Iranian presidential election: Pezeshkian and Jalili in run-off

Iran’s electoral commission announced on Saturday that a run-off will be held in Friday’s presidential election between Massoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili.
Massoud Pezeshkian and Saeed Jalili, who received the most votes on Friday but neither was able to win in the first round.
Commission spokesman Mohsen Eslami told a televised press conference that the turnout was 40 per cent.

With all ballot boxes counted at 58,640 polling stations in 482 cities, where 24 million 535,535,535,535,185 votes were cast, Bazeshkian received 10 million 415,415,191 votes, or 42 per cent of the total.

Jalili received 9 million 473,000,000,000,000,298 votes, or 39 per cent, IRNA reported.

Campaigning for both candidates in the run-off will begin on Saturday and continue until 24 hours before the start of voting in the round scheduled for 5 July, the agency said.
