Keir Starmer officially appointed UK Prime Minister

King Charles III has received Sir Keir Starmer, Britain’s new Prime Minister, and charged him with forming a new government, after Starmer accepted the King’s offer to become Prime Minister.

Earlier on Friday, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles III had accepted Richie Sunak’s resignation as Prime Minister.
This follows the Labour Party’s landslide victory in Thursday’s general election, ending 14 years of Conservative rule.

The Labour Party won an outright majority in the next British Parliament, with more than 340 seats, and will be able to form the next British government alone.
