Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed arrived at Port Sudan airport in eastern Sudan on Tuesday for an official visit during which he will hold talks with the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
According to Sudan’s official news agency, Al Burhan was received by the Ethiopian Prime Minister upon his arrival at Port Sudan airport.
The Ethiopian Prime Minister’s visit to Sudan is his first since war broke out in the country between the army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
Abiy Ahmed will discuss with Burhan the situation in Sudan and ways to end the fighting.
Since mid-April, the Sudanese army, led by al-Burhan, and the Rapid Support Forces, led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), have been engaged in a war that, according to the United Nations, has left about 15,000 people dead and about 10 million displaced and refugees.
