The shooter at a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump acted alone, according to an FBI official.
The official added that federal investigators are working to determine the shooter’s motives as his phone has been seized and work is underway to access its contents.
The bureau noted that the investigation will continue in earnest, with a focus on monitoring any potential threats related to the Republican National Convention. U.S. President Joe Biden said in remarks today that there will be an independent review of the security at the campaign event where the attack occurred in Pennsylvania, emphasizing the need to understand exactly what happened.
One attendee was killed and two others were seriously injured, while the attacker, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by U.S. Secret Service agents.
