Trump officially wins Republican presidential nomination

On Monday, the Republican Party officially nominated former US President Donald Trump as its presidential candidate for the third consecutive cycle of US presidential elections.
The former president, who survived an assassination attempt two days earlier, won a majority of delegate votes at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with Trump reaching the required threshold with Florida’s votes.

Trump will lead the Republican Party for a third consecutive election, having defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016 and beating incumbent Joe Biden in 2020.
