The fibre optic network of telecommunications companies in several regions of France was subjected to an “act of sabotage” on Monday 29 July, the French police said.

The fibre optic network of a number of telecommunications companies in six French regions was subjected to “night-time sabotage” without affecting internet connectivity in Paris, a French police source said.

The sabotage, which affected areas in the north, east, south-east and south-west of France, comes three days after an “attack” on the rail network disrupted high-speed trains and hours before the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics in the French capital on Friday.
