Algerian Constitutional Court announces final list of candidates for presidential elections

Algeria’s Constitutional Court decided on Wednesday to approve the final list of candidates for the presidential election scheduled for 7 September, which was approved by the National Electoral Council and includes three candidates, including President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The Constitutional Court said in a statement that it had met over the past four days to consider five appeals against the presidential candidates before approving the final list today.

The final list of candidates approved by the court includes Tebboune as an independent candidate, Youssef Ochich of the Socialist Forces Front and Abdelali Hassani Cherif of the Movement for a Society of Peace (MSP).

The Constitutional Court said it would send its decisions to the government for publication in the official gazette.
