Thousands of Democratic delegates will begin casting their votes on Thursday to formally nominate US Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s candidate to run against former President Donald Trump for the White House in November.
The multi-day vote will be conducted by electronic ballot, and comes less than two weeks after Vice President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.
Voting begins Thursday morning and ends Monday afternoon. The Democratic Party has not indicated how it will monitor the polls on a daily basis and announce the results.
Traditionally, the official nomination positions are held in person during the party’s general convention, which this year will be held in Chicago from 19 to 22 August.
