The British authorities have arrested 378 people in connection with the riots started by far-right supporters which later turned violent.
Gavin Stevens, chairman of Britain’s National Police Chiefs Council (NPCC), said all sections of society had been affected by the violence that erupted last week.
Stevens said authorities had arrested 378 people so far in connection with the far-right riots and he expected that number to rise in the coming days.
The far-right street incidents in Sunderland and Southport in England were followed by a wave of far-right protests on Saturday and Sunday.
Following the incident, in which three children were killed and 10 others, including eight children, were injured, far-right social media accounts and news websites reported that the suspect was a Muslim refugee who arrived in the country last year.
