US Election: Democratic convention begins today amid tight security

The Democratic National Convention in the United States begins on Monday evening and runs until Thursday.
Around 50,000 people are expected to attend the convention in Chicago, including 4,696 delegates and 15,000 guests and journalists.
Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz will formally accept the party’s nomination for the US presidential race.

The 26th edition of the DNC will take place amid unprecedented security measures in the third-largest city in the United States, although it is used to hosting major political events.

Around 2,500 local police officers will be on hand to secure the event, backed by hundreds of police officers brought in from outside the US.
