French President Macron holds talks with political leaders

French President Emmanuel Macron will today, Friday, receive the main political forces in France in his first post-Olympic initiative to try to form a government following the recent elections.

The French president will start the first meetings by receiving the New Popular Front, a tentative coalition of left-wing forces from the radical left, socialists, environmentalists and communists, which won 193 deputies, far from an absolute majority of 289 seats.
Macron will meet officials from his own party and then from the Republican Right.
The National Rally and its allies (142 MPs), the far-right alliance, will meet the French president this evening.
The coalition led by Marine Le Pen has announced that it will not take part in the next government.
