Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz bids farewell to the US Open

Dutchman Putiek van de Zandschulp pulled off a major upset at the US Open, knocking out Spanish world number three Carlos Alcaraz in the second round on Friday.

The Dutchman, ranked 74th in the world, clinched the match against his Spanish opponent with a three-set victory in a match that lasted two hours and 21 minutes.

This is Alcaraz’s first Grand Slam defeat after a 15-match winning streak that saw him win the French Open and Wimbledon.
