Typhoon Shanshan has hit Kagoshima Prefecture in southwestern Japan, leaving at least three dead, one missing, nearly a million people evacuated and more than 255,000 homes without power.
The storm has caused widespread damage on Kyushu Island, including landslides that have destroyed homes.
Although the Japan Meteorological Agency has lowered its warning level, authorities are urging people to take precautions and beware of strong winds, heavy rain, landslides, and flooded rivers.
