World Health Organization announces that monkeypox vaccines will soon arrive in DR Congo

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), announced on Friday that monkeypox vaccines will arrive in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the next few days to combat a new strain of the virus.

“The first shipment of vaccines will arrive soon, with more to follow,” Tedros told a news conference.

Tim Nguyen, an official with the organization, said about 230,000 doses are ready for immediate shipment, donated by the European Commission and the Danish company Bavarian Nordic, which makes the vaccine.
