Gaza health authorities begin polio vaccination campaign amid difficult humanitarian conditions

Palestinian health authorities and UN agencies launched a massive polio vaccination campaign in the Gaza Strip on Sunday, in an attempt to curb the spread of the disease in the area, which has been suffering from the repercussions of the ongoing war for more than ten months.

The authorities plan to vaccinate children in central Gaza until Wednesday, before moving on to the most affected northern and southern parts.

The campaign began on a limited basis on Saturday and aims to reach about 640,000 children.
