French President Emmanuel Macron will meet Monday with former Socialist Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve and Republican Party leader Xavier Bertrand as part of his talks to appoint a new prime minister nearly two months after legislative elections that left the National Assembly without a majority.
Macron will meet with Yernard Cazeneuve in the morning, and the president will then meet with his predecessors François Hollande (and Nicolas Sarkozy).
In the afternoon, he is expected to receive Xavier Bertrand at the Elysee.
According to Macron’s circles, a new prime minister is likely to be appointed on Tuesday.
