China pledges $51 billion in funding for projects in Africa

Chinese leader Xi Jinping has pledged more than 50 billion dollars for projects in Africa over the next three years, telling African leaders that his country is ready to deepen industrial, agricultural, trade and investment cooperation with the resource-rich continent.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing on Thursday, Xi said China and Africa will carry out 30 projects to connect basic infrastructure.

According to Chinese media, more than 50 African leaders and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres are attending the forum this week.
