German authorities announced the death of a suspect in a shooting in a square in Munich near the “Nazi Crimes Documentation Center” in the city on Thursday.
This incident comes on the anniversary of the Munich Olympics operation in 1972, in which 11 Israeli athletes were killed by the Palestinian “Black September” group.
The German Interior Ministry said the incident was serious and that “protecting Israeli facilities is a top priority.” Later, the official memorial event for the murdered Israeli athletes in Munich, which was scheduled to take place today, was canceled.
The center, which documents the history of the Nazi dictatorship, is located near the Israeli consulate general in the Maxvorstadt district of Munich.
