North Korea has sent a new batch of hundreds of rubbish balloons towards the South, the South Korean military said on Saturday.
Pyongyang launched about 190 balloons on Friday evening, the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Seoul said. About 100 of the balloons have so far landed in South Korea, mainly in the north, according to AFP.
The bags attached to the balloons contained ‘mainly paper and plastic waste’, the same source said.
Pyongyang has launched some 5,000 such balloons into the South since May, saying it was responding to balloons containing propaganda messages sent by South Korean activists into the South.
