Polling stations opened on Saturday for voters to cast their ballots in Algeria’s presidential election, in which more than 24 million voters will cast their ballots to elect a new president.
According to the Independent National Electoral Authority (ANIE), there are 24,351,551 registered voters, including 23,486,061 in the country.
For those living abroad, voting began last Monday.
Three candidates, Youssef Ochich of the Socialist Forces Front (FFS), incumbent President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Abdelali Hassani Cherif of the Movement for a Society of Peace (MSP), are competing in the election.
