Russian army says it has taken control of town in eastern Ukraine

Russia’s military said Saturday it had captured a town in eastern Ukraine and was advancing on several others.

The Russian defence ministry said in a statement that Russian forces had liberated the town of Kalinov in the Donetsk region, AFP reported.

The town is about 35 kilometres from Pokrovsk, a key logistics hub that advancing Russian forces have been targeting for several weeks.
