Super Typhoon Yagi has killed at least two people and injured 92 others on China’s southern tourist island of Hainan, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Saturday.
The typhoon brought heavy rain and strong winds of more than 230 kilometres per hour, prompting authorities to evacuate some 460,000 people, state broadcaster CCTV said.
Typhoon Yagi is now heading towards Vietnam, where it is expected to hit the northern and north-central regions around the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Halong Bay.
