The campaign team of Tunisian presidential candidate Ayachi Zemal announced on Tuesday that a court in Siliana province had issued five arrest warrants for him on charges of falsifying voter recommendations.
Zemal is being tried in similar cases in the provinces of Tunis, Manouba and Jendouba, where he remains in custody.
The judiciary has scheduled hearings for the presidential candidate for next Wednesday and Thursday, in addition to September 19.
The Independent High Electoral Commission had approved the candidacy of three candidates for the October 6 presidential elections, including Ayachi Zemal, head of the Azmoun Movement, Zuhair Meghzawi, head of the Popular Movement, and incumbent President Kais Saied, who is seeking a second term.
