The Iraqi Prime Minister’s Media Office said in a statement that Prime Minister Mohammed Shi’a Al-Soudani received the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Bazeshkian, in the first official foreign visit of the Iranian president after his inauguration in July.

An official reception ceremony was held for the Iranian president at Baghdad International Airport, the statement said.

During his visit, Bazeshkian will meet and hold talks with senior Iraqi officials and sign several bilateral cooperation agreements, including security memorandums of understanding.

The visit is the first for the new Iranian president, who took office in late July.
