The Administrative Court in Tunisia demands the reinstatement of 3 presidential candidates

The Administrative Court in Tunisia confirmed that the electoral commission is obligated to reinstate 3 rejected presidential candidates.

The court’s statement coincides with the start of the electoral campaign inside Tunisia, which is scheduled to last 21 days.

The court said: “Failure to comply with the decision jeopardizes the legitimacy of the elections and contradicts the electoral law and the transparency of the electoral process.”

The Administrative Court had ruled to accept the appeal of former Minister Mondher Zenaidi, Secretary-General of the Action and Achievement Party Abdellatif Mekki, and Director of the Office of former President Moncef Marzouki, Imed Daimi.

However, the electoral commission refused to implement the final decisions of the Administrative Court regarding the appeals of the candidacy and their reinstatement in the presidential race, considering it impossible to implement them.
