Kiev and Moscow conducted a prisoner swap on Friday, the second since the start of the Ukrainian offensive in Russia’s Kursk region, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announcing the return of 49 prisoners of war held by Russia to his country.
The released soldiers were taken to a hospital where they will undergo tests, a standard procedure in such cases.
Since the start of the Russian-Ukrainian war in February, the two warring countries have conducted several prisoner exchanges.
On June 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia is holding 6,465 Ukrainian soldiers, while Ukraine is holding 1,348 Russian soldiers.
