Jordanian King assigns his office director to form new government

Jordanian King Abdullah II assigned his office director, Jaafar Hassan, on Sunday to form the new government, succeeding the government of Bisher Al-Khasawneh, who submitted his resignation to the king after the parliamentary elections were held a few days ago.

Hassan had been Abdullah II’s office director since May 2021.

Jordan is experiencing an economic crisis, as it had barely emerged from the repercussions of the Coronavirus, until the Israeli war on Gaza came, and the unemployment rate in Jordan exceeds 22%, in addition to a public debt of more than $56 billion.
