The FBI has confirmed that Sunday’s shooting near Republican candidate Donald Trump’s golf course “appears to be an assassination attempt”.

The bureau said in a statement that it is responding to the incident in West Palm Beach, Florida, and is investigating what appears to be an assassination attempt on former President Trump.

Trump was unharmed in the incident, which comes two months after an assassination attempt on his life during a campaign rally in the swing state of Pennsylvania.

The White House said in a statement that President Joe Biden and Vice President Harris were briefed on the incident and were “relieved to learn that he (Trump) is safe. They will be updated regularly.”
