Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian sets condition for direct talks with US

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said, “Tehran can hold direct talks with the United States if Washington proves that it is not hostile to Iran.”

Pezeshkian’s statement came in response to a press conference in Tehran about whether Iran was open to direct talks with the United States to revive the 2015 nuclear deal.

In 2018, former US President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement, arguing that it offered Tehran too many benefits, and reimposed harsh US sanctions on Iran, which led it to violate the nuclear restrictions of the deal gradually.
