China has strongly condemned the appalling Israeli attacks on humanitarian organizations and workers in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to provide relief to Palestinian refugees and is a strong pillar of humanitarian operations in Gaza, said Geng Shuang, China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, in a briefing to the UN Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, adding that UNRWA has not left Gaza, even in the most dangerous times, and 224 of its staff have died in the line of duty.
He commended the efforts of all humanitarian workers still working there and called on the Israeli entity to seriously investigate all attacks against humanitarian workers and hold the perpetrators accountable.
