The Kremlin announced today, Tuesday, that Russia’s decision to increase its military to 1.5 million personnel is a response to threats on its western borders amid the ongoing conflict with Ukraine.

Russian presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov explained that this decision is related to the growing threats facing Russia, the highly antagonistic situation on the western border, and instability on the eastern borders.
