The U.S. Department of Defense has announced the completion of the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Niger.
Sabrina Singh, the Pentagon’s deputy spokeswoman, said Monday in remarks to reporters about the current status of the U.S. military, which began withdrawing from Niger on May 19.
Thanks to cooperation and communication between the two sides, U.S. forces completed their withdrawal from Niger safely and without incident on Sept. 15, as agreed, Singh said.
Niger announced on March 17 that it had terminated a 12-year-old military cooperation agreement with the United States and demanded that U.S. troops leave the country “as soon as possible.”
