North Korea launched a series of short-range ballistic missiles today, the second such test in a week.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement that it had monitored the launch of the missiles toward the northeast, noting that its forces had increased their surveillance in anticipation of further launches and that they would share information with the U.S. and Japan.
The Japanese authorities, in turn, announced that they had detected the launch of these missiles, as the Japanese Coast Guard confirmed that a missile had fallen into the sea and asked ships to pay attention to the information they receive and to report if they see any projectiles falling.
United Nations resolutions prohibit North Korea from launching or even testing ballistic missiles of any range.
