Gold Apollo, the Taiwanese company, announced on Wednesday that the pager devices which exploded simultaneously in the hands of Hezbollah fighters, resulting in at least nine fatalities, were produced by its Hungarian partner.
In a statement, the company clarified that Gold Apollo has a long-term partnership with PAC, based in Budapest, for the use of its brand. They added that the model mentioned in media reports is manufactured and sold by PAC, following a report in the New York Times indicating that these devices originated from the Taiwanese company.
The simultaneous explosions of these communication devices led to the deaths of nine people and injured around 2,800 others, including hundreds of Hezbollah members, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
