The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Thursday expressed deep concern that events in Lebanon could lead to an escalation of regional tensions, following attacks on radio equipment used by Hezbollah.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Beijing opposes any violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and security, pays close attention to developments in Lebanon, and calls for maintaining stability in the region.
On Tuesday and Wednesday 17 and 18 September, Lebanon witnessed large-scale attacks targeting pagers and radios, mainly used by Hezbollah members, which exploded, killing at least 32 people and wounding more than 3,000.
