Chinese Defence Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said on Friday that US arms sales to Taiwan seriously violate Beijing’s ‘one China’ principle and the provisions of Sino-US joint statements.

Zhang added that his country had lodged a formal protest with the US side over the issue.

On Wednesday, China announced measures against nine companies linked to the US military over US arms sales to Taiwan.
