The Israeli military said on Friday it carried out an air strike on a site in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a Hezbollah stronghold in the Lebanese capital, killing five children in a preliminary toll.

It said in a statement: ‘A precision strike was carried out in the Beirut area.

Identical sources said the strike targeted a senior Hezbollah figure.

Israeli media confirmed the strike targeted Hezbollah military commander Ibrahim Aqeel.
