Tens of thousands of people took to the streets across Germany on Friday to demand improved efforts to combat climate change, although turnout for the “Fridays for Future” protests was lower compared to previous years.
Demonstrators in cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, and Bonn urged Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s government to end investments in fossil fuels, with some holding signs that read “Save Our Future” and “Earth First.” The “Fridays for Future” movement reported that over 75,000 people participated in protests in around 110 towns and cities across the country.
