Taiwan denies making components for pagers that exploded in Lebanon

Taiwan’s economy minister said today (Friday) that the components used to make thousands of pagers that exploded in Lebanon on Tuesday were not made in Taiwan.

Taiwan-based Gold Apollo said it did not make the devices used in the attack, but that Budapest-based PAC, which has a licence to use its trademark, did.

Prosecutors questioned Gold Apollo’s president and founder late on Thursday before releasing him.
