World leaders will gather in New York on 22-23 September for the ‘Future Summit’ ahead of the UN General Assembly.
Around 130 heads of state and government are expected to attend the Summit, which will discuss the importance of working together and strengthening the role of international organisations to address today’s challenges.
The summit aims to “build an international consensus to protect the present and secure a better future” by encouraging member states to work together in areas such as conflict prevention and resolution, tackling climate change and creating a fairer financial system.
Representatives of member states are negotiating a ‘Charter for the Future’ for the summit.
