The U.S. Department of Defense announced on Monday that it is sending a limited number of additional troops to the Middle East amid rising tensions, without providing further details.

This announcement comes as concerns grow over the possibility of a regional war following Israel’s bombing of hundreds of targets in Lebanon, marking the most intense escalation between Israel and Hezbollah in nearly a year.

Pentagon spokesperson Major General Pat Ryder stated, “We are sending a limited number of military personnel to bolster our forces in the region as a precautionary measure,” without specifying further details for security reasons.

The United States maintains thousands of troops in the Middle East, along with warships, fighter jets, and air defense systems, aimed at protecting its forces and Israel.
