Iraq has submitted a proposal to hold an emergency Arab and Islamic summit on Lebanon, Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein has announced.
Hussein told the Iraqi News Agency that he submitted a proposal to the ministerial meeting of the Arab League Council yesterday to hold an emergency Arab and Islamic summit to unite efforts to stop the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
He stressed the importance of urgent and collective action to protect the Lebanese people and defend their legitimate rights in accordance with international law.
Earlier, the Lebanese Health Ministry announced that the death toll from today’s Israeli attacks on southern and eastern Lebanon had risen to 492 dead and 1,645 injured.
