The number of people displaced by the Israeli aggression on Lebanon has reached 16,500 as of last night, according to Nasser Yassin, coordinator of the National Coordination Committee for Disaster and Crisis Response in Lebanon and caretaker minister of the environment in the caretaker government.
Yassin said the number of shelters in schools had reached 150, with the number of displaced people increasing daily.
Lebanon’s caretaker Minister of the Interior and Municipalities, Bassam Mawlawi, announced yesterday that schools and official institutions would be opened to accommodate those displaced from the southern regions as a result of the series of violent and widespread Israeli air strikes that have been taking place in southern Lebanon since this morning.
