China’s military launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) carrying a dummy warhead into the Pacific Ocean on Wednesday.

The Chinese Ministry of Defence confirmed that the test launch is a routine arrangement in the ministry’s annual training plan, and is in line with international law and practices.

According to Xinhua, the launch aims to test the performance of weapons and military training, noting that the missile ‘fell in the expected maritime areas’.
