Injury Forces French Defender Varane to Hang Up His Boots

French defender Raphael Varane, who won the 2018 World Cup, announced that he will retire from football at the age of 31.
Varane, who previously played for Real Madrid and Manchester United, suffered a knee injury after joining Como, which recently promoted to the Italian top league, preventing him from being included in the team’s roster.
Varane wrote on his Instagram account: “I have fallen and risen a thousand times, and this time, it is time to stop.
He won 18 titles during 10 seasons with Real Madrid and was part of the team that lifted the UEFA Champions League four times, three of which were consecutive between 2014 and 2018.
