Tunisian Parliament Approves Amendment to Electoral Law

On Friday evening, the House of People’s Representatives approved the amendment of some Elections and Referendum Law provisions, by a majority of 116 votes, 8 abstentions, and 12 rejections.

At the end of the session, Parliament Speaker Ibrahim Bouderbala stated that “the conflict of powers between the Elections Authority and the Administrative Court and what could result from it later in dividing the people and the country into two legitimacies is what made the representatives who submitted the proposal to amend the electoral law and who approved it sense the danger and confront it,” according to his expression.
