Twelve Tunisian migrants died Monday and 29 others were rescued after a boat carrying them sank off the southeastern island of Djerba, a judicial spokesman told AFP.

Twelve bodies have been recovered and 29 others rescued after a boat carrying them sank off Djerba’s Houmt al-Souk area this morning (Monday),” Medenine court spokesman Fathi al-Bakoush said. The victims were ‘five men, three children and four women’, he said.
