An African delegation led by Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani will visit Libya on 11 and 12 October.
Al-Ghazouani currently holds the chairmanship of the African Union (AU) and is expected to be accompanied by the chairman of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, and the president of Congo Brazzaville, Denis Sassou, according to the French newspaper Jeune Afrique.
The delegation will visit the capital Tripoli and the city of Benghazi ‘to meet with the parties to the Libyan conflict’, the newspaper said.
On 24 April, Ghazouani received at the presidential palace in Nouakchott a special envoy from the chairman of the presidential council, Mohamed al-Manafi, and at the end of August he met with the head of government appointed by the House of Representatives, Osama Hammad.
