Russia announces control of new town in Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine

The Russian Ministry of Defence announced today that its forces had captured the town of Verkhnyy Kamenskoye in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine.

Ukrainian forces lost up to 855 military personnel, an armoured fighting vehicle, four vehicles, a number of field guns and an ammunition depot on this axis, the Russian ministry said in a statement.

Units of the ‘East’ and ‘West’ groups took control of more advantageous lines and positions,” it said, adding that Ukrainian forces lost up to 495 servicemen, ten vehicles, a number of artillery pieces and eight ammunition depots.
