ICC issues international arrest warrants for 6 Libyans for ‘atrocity crimes

The International Criminal Court (ICC) announced on Friday that it had issued arrest warrants for six Libyans suspected of belonging to ‘a militia that committed brutal crimes in the town of Tarhuna’.

Three of the suspects are senior members of the al-Kaniyat militia, which for years ‘controlled Tarhouna and terrorised its residents’, ICC prosecutor Karim Khan said.

The other three were linked to the al-Kaniyat militia, which ‘systematically executed opponents and killed their entire families’, Khan said.
